With this update you can shoot spatial video on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Talking of integration, with this release Apple AAPL has added the capability to shoot video in a particular way that will integrate with Apple’s next big product category, the Apple Vision Pro headset. It’s designed to help improve your wellbeing and is stunningly integrated into the iPhone, all securely encrypted to help your private entries stay for your eyes only. Chief among these is the new Journal app, which helps you write about the stuff that’s happening to you. If I do keep this photo I will it be using the Apple camera app.Unlike the last couple of updates, which were all about bug fixes and security measures, iOS 17.2 has lots of new features as well as the customary bug-squishing effects. That is an amazing feature, the benefits of which I will ne’er be able to enjoy without an update fixing the automatic editing of the photos. Note: this is separate from the color science profiles that you choose when setting up the camera. I’ve heavily considered returning my phone and I’m still undecided. The real kicker, this ‘feature’ cannot be turned off on the standard iPhone 13. It makes every photo, especially those including people, looking like it was edited by a first semester photography student who just learned about hdr. These include but are not limited to: brightness, highlights, contrast, and vibrance/saturation. Instead, I take a photo and the camera decides that it knows what I want better than I do, automatically applying a bunch of ‘enhancements’. My main complaint is I should be able to get the photo I take. The software edits that are automatically applied to each photo are absolutely awful. The camera itself is the best I’ve ever used. I recently moved from the iPhone X to IPhone 13 (just the regular 13).
